Introduction

While StrongKey has made every effort to ensure its customers’ Tellaro appliance infrastructure never completely goes down all at once, there is a very small, non-zero probability that despite the efforts of StrongKey and its customers, all production Tellaro appliances might become inoperable for one reason or another. It is impossible to predict the probability of such an occurrence, or the causes for it, but it is possible to mitigate this risk with a very small investment.

By adding a Disaster Recovery Backup (DRB) node to its production cluster, and keeping this node safely locked away from its production cluster – complemented by regular backups of the production cluster’s database as well as its Master Keys – customers can fully recover their Tellaro appliances within a few hours (assuming working physical machines and network is available to the customer).

Prerequisites:
  1. Minimum required number of KeyCustodians to activate the cryptographic module (TPM).
  2. USB flash-drive to store Mask file created during installation of new DR server.
  3. The Domain Administrator (DA) credential for each cryptographic domain created within the Tellaro cluster.
  4. A USB to copy the StrongKey Tellaro Distribution from the Existing PROD Server to the new DRB node
